We assume that your system uses cDAQ-9188 that is connected to a PC via Ethernet cable where you run your applications developed in LabVIEW and using DAQmx to control the modules in the cDAQ chassis. Here are our suggestions for how to add WF 3144 or WF 2144 to that type of environment. Both modules will work in the assumed environment. Which module to use depends on which setup you prefer.

WF 3144

WF 3144 is a C series module that only works for cRIO. Unfortunately it does not work for cDAQ. Since your cDAQ is connected with Ethernet we would recommend an Ethernet Expansion chassis if you want to add a WF 3144 to your system. For example the NI-9147 chassis. To control the WF 3144 you will then use LabVIEW on the PC with the FPGA reference VI:s. Our application note AB0005-041 describes how this is done under the chapter "Access the Module I/O".

WF 2144

WF 2144 is an USB module. You connect it directly to your PC with a USB cable. Then you control the module using LabVIEW with the WireFlow drivers that can be downloaded from our web.

It is also possible to control the module with any kind of software using the open Modbus API for the module. The API is described in the Users manual.
